Week 2- The Tempest
As I read this poem, I had the word "storm" in the back of my mind since that is what tempest means. It made me think that the speaker may be going through a rough time. The opening line, "The urge to see through things" made me imagine the speaker attempting to be positive. The speaker may be motivated to keep pushing through the hard times as she looks through the storm of life in the hopes that everything will be okay in the end. In the first stanza it is mentioned that "she sat down and wept." This line shows that sometimes her problems get to her. The second stanza shows how the speaker feels isolated. One part says, "There is singing somewhere. Then you're sitting on a mohair sofa." I feel like this shows how the speaker is going through a hard time. She hears music, a symbol for fun, and isn't a part of it. She is alone because she has let life's storm cloud her vision.

This was a very interesting take on the poem, while my first reading of it left me with a different interpretation, after rereading with your interpretation in mind I can completely see where you're coming from. Keeping in mind your take on it, various different lines can be used to support your point of view. Particularly at the bottom of the first stanza, "She lay dow in a green sweater, rested the back of her hand on her forehead. The private acts become strange when subjected to inquiry." When one is going through a hard time, they usually spend a lot of time within their own thoughts, over analyzation tends to become more frequent and plaguing, and the speaker is pointing this out. Overall this was a very well thought out take on this poem!
