This poem was easily my favorite of the three we had examined. Disregarding the actual words themselves, the even three line stanzas create an aesthetically pleasing work that is laid out evenly on the paper. Once one begins to delve into the actual content of the piece, colorful images of ice, snow, and frost coated trees take one on a visual journey to a place that epitomizes winter.
Stevens' ultimate statement of the piece, that life is what one makes of it, ultimately shines through; the snow man's rather cold (pun not intended) perception of reality is transcended by the notion that the "listener" described by Stevens can ultimately see "nothing that is not there and the nothing that is".
TLDR: good poem, interesting message.
